Zoo pics!
Hey, look! I'm updating!
Pics from the Columbus Zoo, 6/19/05.
Let's start with a goat!

I just liked that goat a lot. He was a baby and he had a nice pattern and he was sweet. There were a lot of chipmunks running around the zoo, especially the North American area, and we also encountered a cute little bunny:

Columbus Zoo is all about the babies lately. Here's the baby elephant and its mom:

The King of the Jungle was not especially dignified:

And then we got to the baby Komodos! They're about 6 and a half months old now, and I was only able to get good pics of two of them. One of them was strutting around like he was the boss of the enclosure:

That one's nice and clear, but it doesn't have much scale to it. This one's not as good, but there's some guy's arm in this shot to give you an idea how little they are:

The others seemed to have a much better-developed climbing instinct:

They have to climb and have to be seperated from their parents for the same reason: little monitor lizards are just prey to the big ones. Here's their daddy outside:

And oh no! It's NEMESIS SWAN!

The zoo makes me wish I had a video camera, or maybe just a tripod and a lot of time to set up the old SLR.
